Cornwall-Based Landscape Painter

Glyn Macey

Glyn is a painter, mixed media artist, and adventurer who lives in the far west of Cornwall.  His work is inspired by the coastlines, harbours, and rugged landscapes of Cornwall.  He also travels extensively, but he can often be found roaming around Cornwall with a sketchbook in hand to record the details of daily Cornish life.  These sketches are then used as the basis for his paintings.

Glyn endeavors to capture the underlying essence of the landscape and the people who live in it.  Using acrylic, pencil, collage techniques, and glazing, he is able to build rich depth in his paintings through a spontaneous approach to his artistry.

As our guest artist, Glyn’s talk and presentation will be part demonstration and part thought process.  He has studied the work of Bill and Stephanie, and he sees the crossover between the two worlds…the two worlds being the mediums of what he does as a painter and what Bill and Stephanie do as photographers.  With his vast knowledge and experience of Cornwall, his artistic and creative insights will provide a wealth of inspiration for participants in the creation of their images during the workshop, as well as enabling participants to experience Cornwall in unique ways that will shine through in their image making.
